By default, the new project is assigned to the same Project Team as the original project. Customer and Contract information is also copied to the new project unless changed.

Users can choose whether the project's Tasks and their assignments should also be copied to the new project.

If the corresponding option is selected, the Start Dates and Due Dates of Tasks in the new project are adjusted based on the dates of Tasks in the source project.

↑ Back to C terms

Cost Categories

Type: Financial Rule

Cost Categories determine the multiplier applied to the time spent on a project or Task when calculating human resource costs.

This feature is intended to support more accurate Wage Cost tracking under different working conditions.

TaskBrowse provides two default Cost Categories:

  • Billable: Multiplier of 1, meaning the cost of recorded time is calculated without adjustment.
  • NonBillable: Multiplier of 0, meaning the recorded time is excluded from Wage Cost calculations.

Additional Cost Categories can be defined with custom multipliers. For example, if a Cost Category with a multiplier of 1.4 is defined, the cost of recorded time is calculated using that multiplier.

A Cost Category can be defined at the project level, and a different Cost Category can be specified for an individual Task when required.

If a Cost Category is specified for a Task, the Task Cost Category takes precedence over the Project Cost Category.

Wage Cost for a Task, User, and Hourly Rate:

Wage Cost = Actual Time × User Hourly Rate (User Cost) × Cost Category Multiplier
↑ Back to C terms

Workload

Type: Capacity Metric

Workload indicates how much of a user's available daily working time is required to complete their assigned tasks.

In a simplified calculation:

Required Daily Effort = Remaining Estimated Workload ÷ Remaining Working Days

Then:

Workload (%) = Required Daily Effort ÷ Daily Available Time × 100

In the actual calculation, when a task has multiple team members, its Estimated Workload is distributed among them. If actual time has already been recorded, completed work is deducted from the remaining effort, and the remaining workload is distributed among team members who have not yet completed the task.
